I've heard a lot of people (mostly anime-haters) say "all anime looks the same." I definitely do not agree with this; when I look at anime/manga, most are drawn differently, even if they are distinguishable as "anime".

I'm not saying that all anime styles are unique, because they're not. I've seen a lot of rehashed styles in anime/manga, and here on dA (not that's necessarily a bad thing! My style -- if I have one -- is far from original).

You may not like anime art; you may say it's not an art form; but I don't think you can look at this stamp and say that all anime art looks the same.

EDIT: Changed file. I think it looks better now, and has better examples. If you can name all of the characters, then you're awesome. Unfortunately, though, the stamp doesn't look that good... damn .gifs! :shakefist:

Them saying anime isn't art is like japanese people saying any cartooning/comic from america isn't art. It's just not true. Like I don't really think taking pictures of a beach chair in black and white at an awkward angle is very impressive, but who am I to judge, no?

Yup! I never understood why anyone would say that because when I look at anime and mangas, I notice all the little details that make a style unlike anyone else's. To me, most styles look very different. I mean, Death Note looks nothing like A Little Snow Fairy Sugar.

The thing is, a lot of people just think "cartoons" in general are not art, or that digital art is not art, or that poetry isn't art, or photography, or pixel art, etc. Yet, oddly enough, people seem to be in general agreement that painting (traditionally; not digitally, of course :roll:) IS art. People should be more open-minded about what is art and what isn't!
